Today, we observe Veteran’s Day. Many people believe that Veteran’s Day is the day to honor military personnel who died in battle or from wounds obtained during combat. However, that day would actually be Memorial Day.
Veteran’s Day is honoring ALL American veterans, living and dead. It is a chance to say “THANK YOU” to our living veterans and to show them our appreciation. In 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11 as Veteran’s Day. There are many Veteran Day ceremonies held across the U.S.
Military Missions would like to say “THANK YOU” to each and every Veteran and tell them how much their service is appreciated! If you happen to see a Veteran today, please take a minute to say those two simple words. You have no idea how much it will mean to them!
Please take a few minutes to browse the photos at www.military-missions.org/hero-wall-photos. All of these Heroes have sacrificed so much to fight for and protect our freedoms. Military Missions is honored to be able to share them with you.

If you have attended this event before, you already know how much fun it is! If you haven’t, then you may be wondering what to expect. Operation SEND is what we call our care package assemblies because we Send Encouragement to our Nation’s Deployed.
OPERATION S.E.N.D. CHRISTMAS is just one of the projects that MILITARY MISSIONS undertakes each year, and it is definitely one of the biggest!… so big that we must use a location that will accommodate hundreds. As a matter of fact, we are predicting this year to be the largest yet!
There will be several activity tables so be sure to make it around to all of them. Also, be sure to stick around for the group “SHOUT OUT TO THE TROOPS”. It happens around 7pm. If you know someone who is currently deployed, feel free to make a poster board sign to hold up during the shout out. These shout outs will be recorded and emailed to the troops so they can hear and see how much love and support we are sending their way.
REGISTRATION – When you enter the building, please make your way to the registration tables. If you plan to make a monetary donation, please do so at this table. This year we are having a “Branch Challenge” to see which branch of the military gets the most designated donations. We will have a board on display to show which branch is “winning”. We all know that the rivalry between branches is FIERCE! So be sure to support your favorite! You can pre-register online and then you will only need to check in at the registration table.
DONATIONS – If you have care package items to donate, please bring them to this table. When entering through the front doors, it should be directly in front of you.
INFORMATION – If you have questions or would like to become a volunteer, please visit the info table. You can also sign up to receive our email newsletter here. If you know someone who is currently deployed and would like to receive a care package, please visit this table and add their name to our list. You will need their name, full address, and estimated return date.
ADOPT A HERO – If you have adopted a hero from our website, you can drop your hero’s box off at this table. It’s not too late to adopt! We will have some names available to pick from.
CARD WRITING TABLES – The kids will be allowed to create their own cards by drawing pictures and using a few stickers. The troops REALLY love getting the cards they make. The adults can write a special thank you note to the troops and let them know how much they are appreciated. If you have extra craft supplies like construction paper or stickers (patriotic or Christmas) that you would like to donate, please bring them along!
GIFT WRAPPING TABLES – We wrap some of the care package items with Christmas wrapping paper.
GOODIE BAGS – Shampoo, Personal Care, Candy, Snacks, and Drinks – At these tables, we will be filling Ziploc bags to be included in the care packages.
VETERAN BAGS – At this table, we will be filling several hundred appreciation bags that will be handed out to veterans at local VA facilities. This was a new event last year and it was a very popular station!
THANK YOU BANNERS – Large sheets of paper will be taped on the wall for you to draw or write on. These will then be placed into unit boxes and delivered to an entire unit of troops.
GENERAL STORE – We will have t-shirts and a few other items available for purchase. We accept cash, checks, or credit cards.
PHOTO BOOTH – Write a message to the troops and take a pic with your friends or family. We will be sharing these on our webpage so deployed men & women will be able to see how much they are appreciated.
We hope you will thoroughly enjoy your evening at our Operation S.E.N.D. Christmas care package assembly. None of this would be possible without YOUR help and support so we want to say THANKS to each and every one of you. Look forward to seeing you there!! You can REGISTER here.
If you still have questions about the event, please feel free to call or text (859) 221-9477
YOU can make a difference in the life of an American hero!
Think about the upcoming holiday season… What things come to mind? Spending time with family and friends… enjoying the home cooked meals… or maybe just drinking a cup of hot chocolate beside the fireplace.
Now think for a moment about the men and women that are deployed during the holidays. Instead of home cooked meals, they will be eating MREs… instead of looking forward to a 3 day holiday weekend, they will be working hard every day to protect us and our freedoms… but most of all, they won’t get to enjoy spending time with their loved ones.
Care packages bring a little touch of home to our deployed troops. However, many who are deployed have no one sending them packages, or even letters. Our goal for Operation SEND Christmas is to send more care packages than ever before! The media tries to ignore the fact that thousands of troops are still deployed, but we KNOW the truth! We still have hundreds of names on our list that have requested care packages… and we want to send a package to each and every one of them!
Through our Adopt A Hero program, you have the opportunity to send a touch of home to a deployed hero. You can choose to shop for their items yourself, or simply donate and we will handle it all for you. YOU can make a difference in the life of an American hero!

This weekend, September 10-11, we are having a very important donation drive at Sam’s Club in Nicholasville, Ky (beside Kohls). This drive is so important because it brings in many of the needed items which enable us to send care packages to our ever growing list of deployed troops.
In order to make this donation drive a success, we need YOUR help. We plan to be at Sam’s Club collecting items from 10am – 4pm on Saturday and from noon – 4pm on Sunday. If you have a couple hours to spare, we hope that you will consider finding a way to come out and help us.
Stop by and help us man the table or shop for a few items on our list during your regular shopping and drop them off as you exit. Remember the sacrifice being made for each of us by our deployed troops and their families. We can all afford to sacrifice a little to show them how much we support and appreciate their efforts.
Even if you can’t make it out to help us, please share the information with your friends and family so they have the chance to participate. You can also donate online at www.military-missions.org/donate.
If you would like to become a volunteer for Military Missions or have questions, please email us at email@example.com or call or text 859-221-9477.
As always, we are extremely grateful for your support of our troops through Military Missions, Inc.
